Chula Vista police searching for suspect – NBC 7 San Diego newsbhunt

Chula Vista police are still searching for the suspect who fired shots Saturday night at a brewery in the Otay Ranch Town Center, forcing a lockdown.

The shooting happened at Novo Brazil Brewing, located in the shopping mall at 2015 Birch Rd., at around 7 p.m., according to the Chula Vista Police Department.

Authorities placed the mall on lockdown following the incident, but it has since been lifted.

Officers found three victims, all described to have non-life-threatening wounds.

CVPD said the shooting may have started during a dispute between two groups.

There seems to be no active threat to the mall or nearby communities, according to police. At this time, CVPD does not believe this incident was random or an active shooter situation.

“There does not appear to be evidence of a hate crime nor a nexus to terrorism,” CVPD added in a post on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

Officers are still at the scene to collect evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
