New Hampshire Hospital shooting: Victim identified newsbhunt

The victim of a shooting at New Hampshire Hospital in Concord on Friday afternoon has been identified, officials with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office announced. Bradley Haas, 63, of Franklin, was shot just after 3:30 p.m. Friday. Officials said CPR was performed on Haas, who was taken to a hospital but died of his injuries. He was a New Hampshire Department of Safety security officer and died in the line of duty.Haas previously served as chief of the Franklin Police Department. He served that department for 28 years, beginning first as a patrol officer. Before his stint with Franklin police, Haas served for three years as a military police officer in the U.S. Army, officials said.>> Download the free WMUR app to get updates on the go: Apple | Google Play <<Officials said a New Hampshire State Police trooper assigned to the hospital immediately shot and killed the suspect, who investigators are not identifying at this time. Officials said the name of the trooper will not be released until a formal interview is conducted.Police said they searched and cleared a suspicious box truck near the shooting scene and determined the box truck did not represent a safety risk. Mark Hall said the shooting was contained to the front lobby, and there was no threat to the general public.No patients at the hospital were injured, Hall said. A call center — which can be reached by calling 603-271-3004 — has been established by the state Department of Health and Human Services for family members of patients at New Hampshire Hospital. Chris Sununu said. “While the scene remains active as the campus is cleared, the suspect is deceased. The state immediately mobilized, and first responders and law enforcement are on the scene. A police officer is always on duty. There are 184 staffed psychiatric beds in the facility.The hospital is on a 120-acre campus that’s home to many large state agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Education, the Public Utility Commission and others.Officials will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Saturday with updates regarding the shooting investigation.
