According to the criminal complaint, McKeesport Police were called to the 1200 block of Pirl Street around 7:30 p.m. Monday for a ShotSpotter alert. Police said when they got to the scene, they heard an additional four gunshots go off and believed the suspect was attempting to shoot at them. Detectives said the officers then found a woman shot several times in the abdomen, legs, rear and hands.”They formed a perimeter, with the help of a neighbor, officers were able to pull the woman to safety and get her to a local trauma center,” said Allegheny County Police Superintendent Christopher Kearns said. The woman was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in critical condition, but police said they expect her to survive. According to the criminal complaint, Plopi and the victim have been in an intimate relationship for a year and a half. A witness told police they heard an argument, looked outside and saw the victim on the balcony before seeing Plopi shoot her once, then fire another shot and then a third shot before the gun jammed. The complaint said the victim went over the balcony of the residence. The witness told police they believe Plopi fixed his gun before coming out of the home to fire a fourth shot at the victim. The detective said Plopi barricaded himself and an adult family member inside his home, which is when McKeesport police requested Allegheny County Police SWAT team and negotiators. The negotiators were able to get the family member inside and out of the home.”State police assisted us with some specialized equipment that they have. Negotiators continued their work. Between that and the approach of the specialized equipment, the suspect decided to surrender peacefully to officers,” said Kearns. Plopi is now awaiting his preliminary hearing date to be set.
