Colchester police report 1 injured in shooting on Sunday, no one in custody newsbhunt

Colchester police have released the name of a person who was shot near St. Michael’s College on Sunday afternoon.Officials said 41-year-old Dontay Canada of Burlington was shot around 4 p.m. in the area of Ethan Allen Avenue. He was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He is still listed in critical condition as of Monday morning. On Sunday night, members of the St. Albans Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office located and stopped a vehicle connected to the investigation.The vehicle was seized and the occupants were interviewed, but no arrests were made.The Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team was back at the scene on Monday to continue their investigation along with members of the Chittenden County Violent Crime Task Force.Police said this does not appear to be a random shooting.Portions of Ethan Allen Ave. will be closed while police continue investigating.Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Colchester police.This is a developing story.
